History doesn’t repeat itself, but humanity does, and ultimately we all fear for job safety, crave efficiencies, worry about the unknown, and round and round we go again. This, of course, isn’t to belittle the very real effects it will have on people’s jobs, but rather to remind ourselves that “this has never happened before, we’re doomed” narratives happen pretty much all the time.
